Hopeless Bleak Despair

Jasper Horatio Hewitt could think of better ways to spend a weekend, and finding himself randomly placed on a frozen French archipelago in the middle of the Indian Ocean as part of an elaborate game wasn't his cup of tea. He had to admit, he dug his new quarters, a two story small house built by the I.G.O.'s labor force on the outskirts of Port-aux-Français. On the other hand, he seemed to be the only person who spoke English for hundreds of miles.

Looking over the paperwork left for him on a small desk, Jasper quickly familiarized himself with the rules of the game, along with some interesting information about how the Kerguelen Islands are part of a subcontinent that sank beneath the frigid waves millions of years ago. Not many people knew that Jasper was a geography buff, and the idea of a continent smaller than Australia that could have theoretically survived the breakup of Pangaea excited him. Who knows what could have been? Would the subcontinent of Kerguelen be a self-ruling state, or France's largest outlying territory?

For now, though, the only real issue for Jasper was finding his way off these rocks and back to America sometime in the next six months. Jasper already had his plan 'Z' in place: if all else failed, he could simply build a boat and row his way out of here!
