Many years later, all thirty children in Mrs. Smithson's homeroom all would identify that bizarre morning where their teacher dipped into a plastic bag and passed out bundles of cash to everyone while telling them it was theirs to keep. Everyone got a thousand dollars! And everyone lost a thousand dollars when they got home from school that afternoon, because thirty sets of parents, stepparents, or legal guardians found it impossible to believe that their teacher just gave them money for the hell of it. There was also that rumor that Mrs. Smithson had robbed a McDonald's the night before, and the confirmation that she had been arrested after school the next day. No one ever saw Mrs. Smithson at school again, and the two substitutes that were assigned to take over her classroom weren't as well liked by the class...to the point that a walkout was staged. Sadly, nothing came of this. And there was also the fact that in the previous episode, the author incorrectly summarized a thousand dollars as "five $100 bills and ten $20s". That's just seven hundred dollars. Well, math was never his best subject in school anyway... Getting back on track, Josh Burbank was in class on that fateful day, and he was deeply wounded by his parents confiscating his gift, especially their insinuation that he somehow "stole" it from "somebody in need". Josh did his best to defend himself. Nothing doing. And for years, whenever Josh was caught misbehaving, the alleged theft of money would inevitably be brought up. It deeply affected Josh, and he began to seek out professional help for this issue. Not just this one, but everything that had been plaguing him since that fateful night that he woke up alone at night on the side of a two lane highway.
