Fred and Astra's Story - From the Previous Night

Checkers had slept, and then found food by her bedside [23177]. Belboz was enduring a difficult encounter that same morning [83781]. In the meantime, between the late afternoon of the previous day [83759] and that morning, Fred and Astra had not been idle.

Fred was not able to walk far, but the two agreed that would not be required. They agreed to sleep outside the caves that night after looking for a few hours.

They found the folio that Checkers read that caused the great reversal in Astra's and Belboz's fortunes, but neither was able to see the print on the pages, and did not know Old High Dolomite in any case. Astra leafed through the book.

Fred asked if she saw anything that might explain what happened. Astra replied that she had not seen anything yet, but would like to read a little farther. Perhaps there would be reference to a map or artifact that could be found here.

Fred needed to feel useful, and beside that, he had a hunch. It was potentially dangerous, but might yield a clue. He walked further into the caves, just to the edge of the light of the Folio. At that point, he extinguished his torch, and waited. He was hoping that, in the darkness and silence, that the distractions of his senses would be gone, and some extra-sensory clue would be uncovered.

1. Nothing happens.
2. Fred indeed finds something that provides a clue as to what happened.
3. Fred hears a clattering of someone or something rushing from the depths of the cave.
