The water continued to deepen, but thankfully stopped just below their arm-
pits. Suddenly, splashing in from the shadows, were dozens of tiny men in
green and black boats. Magical balls of light were at the prow and stern
of each boat. "reetings!" one of them shouted through a megaphone. "Sorry for the..." at this point, he passed the device along. This continued with every few words, so apparently the little men would not strain their voices with the shouting. The group apologized for the scare and promised they did not work for the dragon. But the rising water level helped them speak with the women and was part of the spell that would, if they agreed, allow the women to help them rescue their female children from a race of interdimensial slavers. The men would go but no males could enter the portal. Most of the women had been injured by stun sticks in the attacks and the ones who weren't had already gone but they hadn't been heard back from at the appointed times. Astra demands proof by having the men lower the water a foot. They do so and Astra agrees.
