"I don't know that I should even try, princess. It's a powerful
enchantment, and not easily broken by one other than the caster, who of
course knows the proper spell of release." Elaine explained. "our best bet
is to wait for Belboz to come around, then force him to undo this. Even
without his magic ring he should be able to manage that"
Fred was bending over the necromancer. "He won't be coming round," he said. "Astra's kick broke his neck. Evidently his claimed immortality wasn't proof against something like that." Astra was crestfallen. "So it's hopeless then?" "Not necessarily." Elaine said softly, clearly sympathizing with Astra's plight. "I could still try a spell on my own. We might have a better chance at it once Adele wakes up, but there's no guarantee she'll cooperate." "I'm the one who killed her father. I could see she why she wouldn't want to help me." Astra dismayed. "Maybe now that Belboz is dead, she'll see reason?" Matthias offered. "Could be...hmmm, No, I've got it!" Elaine exclaimed. "Belboz's ring! If I channel my magic through that, It should be strong enough to restore Astra. Not to mention Sigin." She gestured over to where the former dragon mage turned tiger was. He had taken on even more of the appearance of an everyday housecat, and had apparently lost his voice and intelligence as well. He was currently circling Exotica, purring contently and nuzzling her bare legs. Not without some difficulty, Fred pried the ring off of Belboz's finger. Immediately he felt as though it had some hidden and very dark powers. He was suddenly wary about turning it over. But the desperate look on Astra's face overcame his reservations, and he handed the ring to Elaine.
