Stand

Glenda ran on to the cave mouth, losing her footwear in the process to end up completely naked once more. Only then did she realise that Fred had not followed her.

She gasped for breath and stumbled back, but Sir Fred sternly glanced at her as the monsters reached him. He could spare her only a single tick of time, but he used it well.

"Stay where you are! I know you're brave and resourceful, but none of that counts in a battle of scale against steel! Use your brains and wait in the cave for me! If I live long enough, I'll join you!"

Glenda's lip curled to make an acid comment but the impulse fled and instead, unknown to Fred who was already in action, she gave him a long look of pure admiration. Then she retreated into the gloom of the cave as weirdly-coloured blood and human sweat was flung from the smoking battle site.

1. Dragon blood
2. Glenda waits... and waits... Until all is silent once more...
3. Sir Fred hacks down a goodly number then flees into the cave to find Glenda
4. Sir Fred is defeated. He waits for death as one of the fell beasts presses his neck with one of its extraordinarily-clawed paws...
