It was the obvious total assurance of the two sidekicks that their
mysterious metal devices could deal with any threat that Fred and Astra
might pose which convinced our heroes that resistance would be unwise.
"Just a little bit of stage fright," Fred said. "Let's get on with the show." "We'll have them rolling in the aisles," Astra assured Ralph. "I'm glad to hear it," Ralph said. "This way." He led Fred and Astra along a corridor, with the two goons with their metal devices bringing up the rear. Before long, the sound of applause became audible. Shortly afterwards the passage emerged in the wings of a stage which had been set up at one end of a long hall. On the stage was a juggler, presumably Jules. The audience consisted of about thirty or forty people. Most sat on wooden benches, but a few - no doubt more important than the rest - had chairs. The grandest chair was occupied by a man in fine robes, who must be Ralph's lord.
