"Yes," Susan's mother said sympathetically. "Stacy told me about that side-effect, too." She placed a hand on Stacy's arm. "I'm so sorry, really I am. I hope it works out OK for you."

Stacy thanked her, feeling much better about the whole situation, and went to see about finding an oculist. She borrowed a phone book from the nurse (at least that didn't seem to be against hospital policy!) and began making phone calls.

  1. She quickly found one who could fit her in for an appointment this afternoon.
  2. Unfortunately, the soonest any of them said they could fit her in was tomorrow.
