Astra tried the handle, and discovered that the heavy wooden door that
blocked
their way was locked. "How frustrating," she said. "It looks as though we
may
have to retrace our steps." "Can't you force it open with the sword?"
asked Fred.
"All that will do is ruin a good sword. That door is made of solid oak and
has a
reinforced iron lock." "Well, there's one obvious thing to try, and that's
to knock."
"We don't know if whoever's on the other side is friend or foe. If it's
foe, I'd
rather not alert them to our presence. Stiil, I think you're right; we
don't really
have any choice."
So, sword at the ready, Astra knocked on the door. But it was so heavy, that her knocking was almost soundless. "This isn't going to work," she said, starting to turn away from the door.
