Cooing delightedly, Sofia and Imelda quickly slipped on the robes, the
shimmering, near-transparent fabric hugging the curves of their small
bodies. The robes were slightly too large for them, the sleeves reaching
down over their hands and the hems as low as their ankles. Diana was
about to issue another injunction but thought better of it, since the
younger girls had suffered no apparent ill effects, and in the interests
of modesty she donned a robe herself as Sofia an Imelda slipped one over
Exotica's shoulders. The two had been making themselvers useful by taking
care of the ensorcelled Allarian princess, for which Diana was grateful
since it left her free to stay alert for any danger. Fred meanwhile was
glancing around with a strange look on his face. "I...I cant see," he
whispered."No... I can." "Fred, are you allright?" Diana asked with concern, sitting beside him. The robe reached just below her knees and the fabric felt silky smooth and comfortable on her bare skin. "Can you go on?" "Something is happening to me," Fred said, shaking his head. "My vision blurs, but as it does it becomes clear. I can see.. the things hidden behind what we can see. And when I shut my eyes..." Fred appeared to be in deep thought. He reached into his pack and produced a piece of gray cloth, which he then wrapped around his eyes. "Fred," Diana spoke with concern. "Please tell me you're not losing your mind same as Exotica. Why have you blinded yourself?" Fred shook his head, slowly rising to his knees and looking straight at Diana. "I am not blind. I can see better this way. I can see your fear as well as your determination, and I swear I shall protect you all. Diana, Exotica, Sofia, Imelda - I shall keep you four alive no matter what." "Thank you, milord," Imelda said with unexpected lucidity. "I thank you on behalf of all of us and of my home country of Hespan, for trying yout best to protect us even at the cost of your own life. I know our countries do not have the best of relations, but I swear if I ever see my homeland again I shall tell everyone who will listen of the honor and chivalry of a man of Allaria." Exptoca merely stared ahead without speaking while Sofia blushed and turned away. Diana coughed. "Good enough! Wait until we are out of this mess to make fervent confessions of love. Fred, if you indeed can see more than us mere humans then try and look for a way to escape or something else that can help us!" Fred turned to stare further down into the corridor ahead of them. "There is something there. Something that shines brightly in the mind's eye. We must go. It is close at hand..."
