"Excellent." said Don Marks, CEP of Never Ending Internet Solutions (NEIS), after everything was approved. He gulped the last of his conference coffee, turned to Stacy and said "See you next week when you fire everyone." Stacy is taken aback at Don's statement, but she manages to stammer out "Yes! Thank you, Don, I won't let you down," just as Marks is walking out of the meeting room. He doesn't answer, or turn back around to look at Stacy, but he does raise his left hand in some kind of gesture of acknowledgement. Don's attorney, Tom Johnson, gets up and follows Don out of the meeting room. Curiously, he leaves his briefcase, containing the contracts and other important documents that Stacy signed. This was even more confusing to Stacy than having woken up on a subway car just a few hours ago with absolutely no memory of how she got there. Now, she had apparently been hired at an internet provider with the expectation that she's to fire everyone else? At any consolation, at least Stacy once again knew her surname. Sitting uncomfortably for a few minutes, Stacy racked her brain for an answer. I think I better take a look at those papers more closely, she thought to herself. Johnson's briefcase still sat on the table across from her. But how much time would she have to look before the lawyer returned to claim his belongings?
