Though the subject matter of the tapestries would not have seemed out of
place in the Aqualarian palace that she had just left, the heat and
humidity told Nendi that she must be somewhere other. Either the
tapestries were very new, or those who produced them had known how to
protect them against the dampness of the air, for they all seemed to be
in as perfect condition as those that she had encountered a little
earlier.
She studied the nearest tapestry. Two young women, both of whom notably combined beauty and athleticism, appeared to be about to engage in a duel. The fight did not look as though it would be very fair for, whilst each woman had a broadsword, one was fully armoured - including a shield - whilst the other was naked except for a leather miniskirt. Nendi wondered what the story behind their confrontation might be. Then once more she started to get that strange feeling that she herself was being woven into the tapestry.
