What the Comm Officer/Knight Heard

I've certainly changed a lot since I started this quest. Or more precisely, I've been changed a lot. And maybe it hasn't all been for the bad, either.

Just then, the sound of female voices approaching broke her out of her reverie. Halting herself, Fred stayed very still and very quiet.

"...what they did to sabotaged the warp engines!" came a voice she didn't recognize. "We've had everyone who can handle a sensor and a spanner trying to figure it out, but no luck yet."

"Keep trying." Uhura recognized Connor's voice. "What about the men from the command crew? And that traitor Uhura?"

"Nothing." That voice belonged to Yeoman Janice Rand. "We tracked some of them to the Science lab, but they got away, and whatever they did, they masked it so we couldn't tell." The women seemed to have halted beneath her. Another bunch is loose somewhere, but what they're up to, we have no idea. I can’t tell if shorting the electrical panels belowdecks was done to let Uhura escape, or if they just did it to confuse us and that was an unexpected benefit."

"Don’t discount these Federation types and their devious minds," Connor said sourly. "And Kirk?"

"The captain - sorry, the former captain is an unknown quantity. I've studied the file on him, as well as this woman's memories, and he seems to always manage to flip the odds in favor."

"Not this time!" Connor said, sounding both angry and amused. "We're almost read to begin the next phase. I assume that the rest of the male crew is where we left them?"

"Absolutely," Rand replied.

1. "Locked in their cabins, under strong sedation."
2. "Locked in their cabins, until the injections we gave them start to take effect."
3. "Locked in Cargo Bays 3 & 4, under heavy guard."
4. "We've beamed the last of them - except for those still loose - onto the other ship."
5. "Discorporealized and stored in the Auxiliary Patter Buffer."
