Susan gazed at the jewel box with incomprehension. "What could this
mean?" she thought, when suddenly she heard men shouting and horses
whinnying outside. There was a bang on the door. "Open up!!" someone
roared in a voice like that a crazed bull. "We know you're sheltering
pirates in this filthy hovel of yours! Open this door or we'll force it
down in the name of the King!!" "No!" Charles gasped. "Its the Knights! You've led them right to me! How could you guys?" "I could've sworn we werent being followed," 31173h0ckma7 said. "Damn it all!" "Aye, lads its time to fight!" webboy said. "We wont let them take us that easily!" The door burst from its hinges and two heavily armored Knights surged foward into the room. 31173h0ckma7 pulled a flintlock revolver from his belt and fired straight into the heart of the lead Knight, who flew backward screaming into the arms of his comrade. The second Knight continued his charge with the other's body as a shield and landed on top of 31173h0ckma7, stabbing him in the face with his misericorde. 31173h0ckma7 gave a long mournful wail as blood burst from his eyes. Soon the room was filled with gunpowder smoke, clang of steel on steel, and the loud, animalistic screams men give, sometimes unawares, when fighting for their lives. Coughing, Susan crawled on her hands and knees through the smoke. Something brushed against her, gripping her arms - she shrieked until she realized it was Charles. He held her tight against him and whispered...
