Trebuchant

Charles and Susan fled into the kitchen, through a utility room, and out the back door. A block away, there was a platoon of men loading a rock onto a trebuchant. Charles and Susan fled into the direction opposite the trebuchant.

As they ran down the street, they heard a shout, and then a loud, flat "blap." The stone from the trebuchant had hit something, but neither looked back. After four blocks running at top speed, both were exhausted, and ducked into the nearest building. The door was open.

1. It was odd. From the outside, it appeared to be a tract house, but there was a spiral staircase leading down, and a layer of dust on the steps.
2. It was the Red and White Liquor Store - with a special on Mr. Kim's soju.
3. It was a non-descript building in an industrial park. The first door read, "Dr. Armbruster."
