"Yes, and I've incinerated him so thoroughly that there's nothing left of him to eat," the dragon said a little regretfully.

"He deserved it," one of the captives said. "He killed Ed."

"He didn't deserve it," Astra said hotly. "Ed's death was an accident."

"So this putative dragonslayer killed one of my servants," the dragon rumbled. "And you, Princess, and you, Velus, had allied yourself with him, so must share his guilt. How shall I punish you?

1. "I shall be merciful. You can join - or in Velus's case rejoin - this group here, and help them with the housekeeping."
2. "You will be put back in chains, Astra. But this time they will be much harder to cut through."
3. "If I turned Velus into a dog for taking an extra slice of cake, then I shall have to do something really severe for a serious offence like this."
