Fred, as an Allarian nobleman, had a higher moral code, and he was sworn to protect the weak. In this case, the weak were the remaining people in the bar. And since there was nobody else to protect them, it would have to be himself and the three young women, in spite of his concern at their lack of experience. He couldn't hope to take on six orc warriors on his own.

So he told his companions: "We have to protect the patrons of this bar until the town guard can arrive."

1. Soon all six orcs have been dispatched. Fred has been pleasantly impressed by his companions' prowess. Perhaps he should persuade them to accompany him on his quest after all.
2. The battle does not go well.
