Before Joey could say "Hey, don't you believe in free speech?" Astra had
slapped him silly and continued on her way, the former Velus - now renamed
as Fred in honour of the late knight - trotting along behind her.
"Who would have thought that these caves would contain so many strange people?" Astra remarked. What Fred the dog would have liked to reply, but was unfortunately unable to, was: It's the corset, you silly cow. It must be cursed. Weird things are going to continue to happen to you until you can find a way to get rid of it. That strange boy might have unlaced it for you if you'd asked him nicely, rather than knocking him into the middle of next week. "Look!" Astra said, interrupting Fred's train of thought. She was pointing at a large sign fixed to the wall of the tunnel: UNIQUE JOB OPPORTUNITY FOR A YOUNG WOMAN OF INITIATIVE. APPLICANT MUST LOOK GOOD IN A CORSET. NAME BEGINNING AND ENDING IN "A" AN ADVANTAGE. Surely even Astra won't be naive enough to fall for that? Fred thought.
