The Naming

"What a clever boy you are," Gilda says affectionately. "Now we won't have to give you a name, because you can tell us what you are called."

There is silence for a second or two, whilst the gryphon works this out. (He's intelligent, but he has his limits.) Then he says: "Don't know name. You name me."

"But surely the mage must have given you a name?" Hilda objects.

"Don't rememberr. Don't rememberr a mage. Don't rememberr anything before I became yourss."

"I see."

Gilda and Hilda briefly discuss what name they should choose, before reaching agreement. Hilda says: "We will name you Braveheart. And I am Hilda and this is Gilda."

"Iss good."

1. By now they have reached the rendezvous point and are waiting for their employer to show up.
