Never make a deal with a dragon....

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 66812

By now they have reached the rendezvous point and are waiting for their employer to show up.

And show up he does indeed, in something of an agitated, desperate state!

Somewhat earlier, while we'd been following the adventures (perhaps misadventures) of our giant ladies here we'd missed out on the most unexpected magical call the merchant's current employer had made! He had thought it had been nothing but empty theatrics when his mysterious employer had insisted he take this rather gaudy (and obviously fake) jewel encrusted medallion along for the duration of his employment. He'd managed not to roll his eyes when he'd been warned that he'd be checked up upon time from time to see how things were progressing. Hints were dropped that nothing hinky better be going on or else. Honestly, the his current obviously thought him a simpleton to be cowed by such lightly veiled threats into not even thinking of betraying him. Honestly, the "facilitator" had not risen as far as he had by idly betraying his "clients".

Apparently the theatrics were not false. A flash of light and extreme pain told him as much a few moments ago, as well as a vision of a scaly face growling at him that he just BETTER put things to right after bungling it.

Being that the now hurting merchant got the distinct impression that the measures had been taken thus far (i.e. the hiring of the female Frost Giants) had not been enough for this . . . dragon he'd inadvertently hired himself out to here. The pain was some proof of that. That and if he didn't get his hands on the thing he'd been hired to get he'd better get used to the idea (what will be left of his original self) of a simple life of pan pipes and chasing nymphs with hooved feet!

Already he had notices the beginning of budding horns on his forehead and him getting rather . . .hairier down below the beltline. Having his hood up over his head hid the changes thus far, but IF the giants didn't come through (which it sounded like when the dragon had roared at him in that magical vision) he realizes he is in BIG trouble!

Pausing slightly, the merchant smiles a loose lipped smile as his mind's eye recalls how utterly shapely and nubile those females had . . .

Shaking his increasingly shaggy head and adjusting his hood (unaware that the horn buds have grown in size slightly) he runs on. And nearly cries out in relief as he finds that the giants are actually THERE.

  1. Then nearly cries in despair as their tale of failure . . .
