Along the way to rendezvous location

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 66518

Their attempts to dissuade the gryphon from following them are completely ineffective, of course. He comes with them as they head to the agreed rendezvous location in order to tell their employer the bad news.

"I'm still not entirely sure we should be doing this," Hilda says worriedly as they march quickly towards their meet point. "I still feel that chances would be a bit better for us if we instead of giving warning to our employer about what happened and then trying for gainful employment in the next trade station we just head for the station."

The dark chance that the mage might follow them and hunt them down for having stolen his pet gryphon was not discussed, being that they both hope that if it isn't voiced it won't befallen them. Primitive superstition, yes. Then again, Frost Giants (male or female) aren't exactly the . . .height of enlightened culture out there. And besides, this is a fantasy motif world so maybe they have something to it, eh?

"True but maybe it might pay dividends in the end," Gilda explains. "While we all know we aren't going to get paid for this failed job. Yet, if we meet him in the future and we all make it through this alive he'll remember that we not only didn't betray him to the wizard but did him the favor of clueing him in on the wizard running amok."

And maybe would be inclined on offering a job in the future in gratitude. Small chance, but right now the sisters are grasping at straws.

Whatever the case, it looks like their little journey down to investigate things shall have to wait a bit longer than they'd hoped.

"We tell him straight and true just why we're back and why we're leaving," Gilda continues. "Maybe even tell him about the mage being much more powerful than he'd warned us about. After all, don't you have to be a powerful mage in order to even think about changing people into other creatures, right?"

She then glances down at their erstwhile gryphon friend, wondering if that mage had THIS exotic pet, then just how much more exotic would he have turned her and her sister into, for gods' sake?! Gryphons were not the most mundane creatures out there, you know! Intelligent ones even more so, even if they were a clannish lot.

This guy was kinda on the small side to be the intelligent type, though if she remembered the fireside tales right, whatever the case.

"I wonder what his name is," Hilda sighs, fondly ruffling the furry head of the gryphon. "Maybe we should give him a good name, being that he followed us home. I mean he IS ours now, right?"

  1. "Yourssss! Am yourrsss! Everything I have yoursss!!"
