Surprisingly, the lion raised his head, and started to sing. Not
well, but the party appreciated that he could sing at all.
In a deep, leonine voice, he replied:
It is tough to keep the metre
And entertain the reader
With peril this is fraught
But the pages they'd be turning
And their midnight oil burning
If we only had a plot.
We should look for some gold
Or fight foes who are bold
With sabres and whatnot ---
Or seek a magic potion
Of which we'd have some notion
If we hadn't lost the plot.
What you need is a device
To keep action runnin' nice
It's something that I've got
It's called a MacGuffin
After Fred I've finished stuffin'
I'll help along the plot.
The "MacGuffin" turns out to be
-
a magic corset for Astra.
-
a thorn that has been lodged in the lion's paw.
-
something that is about the size of a breadbox.
