A Change of Fortune...

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 66488

"Don't try to tamper with your collars," a deep voice says. Turning their heads, they see a man with a greying beard aged about fifty. He goes on: "You will wear those collars for as long as I choose...which shall be the entirety of your natural lives, I fear."

Point in fact, unless a VERY powerful mage (or cleric . . . maybe) intervened, he was the only person who would BE able to remove those collars.

The spell that keeps them bound where they stand and also mute prevents any objection to this (verbal or physical). All the two young giantesses can do is listen and look on with dawning dread at what is to come.

"See, I have been needing at least one exotic familiar . . . what with my old one having shuffled off her mortal coils not too long ago," the grey beard man continues, sighing with some regret. "Being that you two made such a mess of things I feel that you should feel honored that I chose to remake you both into creatures most suited to fill that role."

He already knows who probably sent these two giant females and will deal with the man (in a most painful manner) when the time is right. Later. Turning back, he looks at the prone female giants.

"Having two familiars at once actually will be nice truth be told," the mage adds under his breath, eyes aglow with the opportunities that shall present themselves soon. Ignoring the pleading looks of those who'd trespassed against him, he instead he gathers his gear for this ceremony.

. . .

As an aside, our nameless mage here had actually looked over and examined both Hilda and Gilda for obvious magical items and markings for safety's sake. It is just that the odd marks on their foreheads had been dismissed as some kind of odd tribal markings with only a passing resemblance to the "mark of excommunication of the fey". After all, why would the Fair Folk bother marking Frost Giants?

The thought to perhaps check them for signs of transformation never entered into his head. He'd been more interested in delighting in the abilities which his two new familiars would afford him. The ability of flight from being able to assume the form (male form) of his familiars. However, he had to be CAREFUL while in that form. Can't let biology and instinct take too firm of a hand else . . . Well, let us just say his new ability to sire little gyphons would be come into play! Shall we say that the transformation is . . . very thorough.

See, he is NOT that demented, however warped his views in life may be in life otherwise. He did not want that kind of "legacy" EVEN IF his familiars shall be so wrapped around his little finger to do anything he asks of them!

Anyway, another . . . ability would be to see through his familiars' eyes. By god, a great thing for aerial recon, eh?

That and the familiars would be able to cast simple magical spell like abilities as well (so we all get something from it). Not all one way.

There was more, but those were the highlights...

So after putting the female Frost Giants asleep and getting up to the last critical step imagine the surprise on his face when the magic of his spell bounces off the females (with a flash of light from those marks he mistook for tribal marks). It hits him fully and completely.

The world goes black as he screams, feeling the beginning of the very foundation of his mind and body shift and change. The prone from youthens to that of a young teen. The form then grows in size and shape, shredding the wizardry robes to ruin. The prone form sprouts extra appendages (a pair of wings on his back) in addition to fur and feathers.

Then, the spell (after sealing off anything not gryphon related) takes the mental furniture that had been moved about and . . . erases it permanently. A young male gryphon (without a name or tribe) arises and lays love sick eyes upon his mistresses. He hardly notices the painful sting of a VERY familiar looking symbol form upon HIS hairy/furry forehead, since he's too wrapped up in emotional bliss!

  1. The girls wake up with a start to the nudging of their new "pet's" beak. Looking into his eyes a bond forms...
