Forgotten Song

Then Exotica began to sing, her lips voicing lyrics no Allarian lips could have uttered. It was a musical, yet strange language, full of throaty warbles, long vowels and odd pauses. Exotica sang it in a beautiful soprano voice, echoing louder and louder through the temple as the light around her grew steadily brighter.

"She's possessed!" Diana said through gritted teeth. "Stop her, Fred! Before she gets us in even more trouble!"

But Fred was mesmerized. Something was happening, he could feel it. The air was hot and humid, and seemed to crackle with electricity. Sara and Sophia paused, while trying to coax Imelda under the stream of water (she was the filthiest of the girls at that point). And then, Exotica suddenly stopped singing.

They could suddenly hear whinnying and the clomp of many horse hooves outside. A long shadow seemed to fall across the entire room as a knight on a black, near-skeletal horse rode through the entrance. A horned full- helm covered his face, and his dark armor was battered and torn, revealing parts of his body, bloodied and in various forms of putrefaction.

"Wayndaimlyon," Exotica said breathlessly, turning to look at him. "You have come, at last. Just as you said you would."

"Aye, Yrrlassrhye I have," the knight rasped, pulling his horse to a stop as dark mist streamed into the room behind him. "A knight always keeps his promise."

"This is bad, Fred!" Diana hissed. "At this rate, your paramour is going to get taken away to the demon world, along with the rest of us!"

Fred wasn't so sure about that. Maybe staying quiet and letting this play out was the best option for now. Thankfully, all the girls had wisely kept themselves from screaming at the sight of the dark rider, thus not attracting attention to themselves.

1. Some sort of drama plays out between Exotica and the black knight.
2. Imelda screams finally, attracting all sorts of unwelcome attention.
3. His mind suddenly reels in anger and Fred decides to end this farce by killing the black knight.
4. Diana steps forward to challenge the black knight.
5. A bright light shines down from above into the center of Exotica's forehead.
