The Appearance of Daedarius

The American G.I. gave another ready laugh. "Know him? I am him."

"You're Daedarius?" Billy exclaimed, incredulous.

"You expecting someone from the Old Testament?" Billy gave no answer, so Daedarius continued: "If it makes things easier, call me Dave."

Fred told him their names. Dave nodded. "Much better than One-Bar and Three-Stripe, dontcha think?" Not waiting for a reply, he indicated that they should follow him and they made their way along a partially obscured trail. Fred followed behind Billy so he could keep an eye on him.

Dave kept up a brisk pace, and they made good time. Mount Orzhov could be seen through gaps in the jungle canopy, though it seemed to get no nearer each time they saw it. Billy started grumbling about the meat Fred knocked out of his hand among other things, but that primarily. He fell quiet on occasions, but each time started off again.

Fred tried whistling, humming, anything to shut Billy's moaning, to no avail. Eventually he decided he had had enough and felt that Bull Brannigan had to make another appearance.

1. Fred gives Billy the works.
2. As if discerning what Fred was planning, Billy finally shut up.
3. Dave turned suddenly and pointed his rifle at Billy.
