Holm Locke left Nathanial's cottage and started his trek to the Treasure
House. He had to be absolutely certain that those were indeed Orc prints.
The captain was so preoccupied with the possibility that the orcs may have
returned that he didn't respond to the friendly townsfolk that greeted him
on his travel.
Holm Locke made it to the Treasure House and exchanged the customary greetings with the guard on duty, and then the Captain made his request for the orc feet. The guard looked at him for a moment, as if Holm Locke was joking. When it was apparent he was not, he became all seriousness. "Yes captain. Let me go back and see what I can do." The guard entered the house and Holm Locke patiently waited outside. Several minutes later, the guard returned empty handed. "I'm afraid that the feet in question were stolen years ago." "What? Why would someone steal those? They have no real value to anyone!" "I wish I could tell you. But... That wasn't all that was stolen. At the same time a dragon claw, a Gracht tail, a purple mushroom of Macedonia, and two floating eyeballs were all stolen." "Very odd. I don't suppose you know the official report on that?" "They never found who did it. The items weren't worth anything in and of themselves, so no one ever pursued it." "Well, thank you for your time." Holm Locke walked away, lost in his own thoughts again. He now had two questions to answer... Were the prints in Nathanial's cottage actually orc prints, and what is the importance of the stolen items, if any...
