Answers From The Mage's Cave

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 6998

The mage, Belboz, lived in a cave south of town. Many people thought he was insane, but just about everybody respected him. After all, he was the town's only mage, no matter how old or crazy he might be. Captain Locke figured Belboz might be very helpful in this situation.

When he arrived Locke could hear deep rumblings comming from the direction of the mage's cave.

"Hello!" Locke exclaimed as he neared the entrance. "Hello! Belboz, this is Captain Holm Locke! Could I have a word with you?"

The rumbling stopped. "Who--what!? Im busy! Go away!" A raspy voice replied.

"It's a matter of the Kingdom's safety! Please!"

The robed figure of Belboz suddenly appeared in front of Locke. "Well now that you put it that way, do come in! This better be important though!"

The inside of the cave was full of vials, scrolls, books, and all sorts of nifty stuff. Locke had no idea what most of the things he saw there where, but he knew they must be very magical. The mage motioned for Locke to take a seat with him at a table. On top of the table was a crystal ball, or what appeared to be one.

"So!" Belboz said, waggling his fingers mystically. "What seems to be the problem, Captain?"

Locke told the story of Nathaniel's murder, most of which the mage already knew. He told belboz of the tracks he saw and the missing items in the Treasure House.

Belboz's face looked grave and pale when Locke was done with his story.

"This is ill news." Belboz said, lifting himself up slowly. "The illest I have heard in many, many years! How these items could have been stolen is beyond me! They should have been gaurded much more carefully! But there is still much I do not understand..."

Captain Locke began to feel more and more uneasy. "So those missing items could be used in a spell?"

"COULD be? They WILL be, mark my words! And there are few sorcerers in these days that know the spell that those reagents can produce. Indeed, my heart tells me even now who it is that has done this, and it runs my blood chill."

"Who do you think it is!?" Locke asked eagerly.

"Castellan, Dark Heretic of Vjorica. Miserable fool that he is!"

"But why would he kill a farmer and make it look like an orc attack?"

Belboz sighed. "I wish I knew the answer. And I must now leave for the castle. King Fred must know of this new threat at once!"

  1. Captain Holm Locke decided to accompany the mage to the castle.
  2. Locke decides to stay behind and look for more clues instead.
