What on Earth was going on?, Stacy wondered. Why were these men trying to
kill her? And this "Prof" the man had mentioned... Could this be the
"Professor" the man at the doughnut shop had mentioned seeing her with? An
even more immediate question, of course, was what should she do now? The
most obvious answer was to call the police, but Stacy found herself
hesitating. What if she was involved in some illegal activity? She didn't
think she was the criminal type, but how could she know for sure?
And in any case, if she told the police about her amnesia -- and how else
could she explain how little she knew about herself? -- they'd probably put
her into a hospital. Stacy had no idea why, but she had an unreasoning
dread of that possibility. So. What to do?
