One thing at a time, d*mnit...

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 62982

Elrondir

"Why have you attempted to kidnap our daughter?" Mina growls at what I swear is the spitting image of the picture of the G-man from the video game, Half-life. Smoke coming from her nostrils tell me . . . she is VERY pissed off right now!

Alan isn't too far behind her in the "pissed off" department, even though (thank the Creator!) Rei and her younger sister only seem a little bit dazed right now where they stand. Granted, I'm more worried about Mina and her mate right now and am only sparing slight attention to the girls, but they look whole.

Oh, i know that somethinghas changed here for the younger (native) Rei. Maybe those wings of hers are just . . . Oh Hell with it, I'm not going to waste time and energy on matters that are right now trivial. Through some twist of fate, the very LEADER of one of the factions we're trying to meet with and make to see REASON is right here and now in front of us! Frell! Here I'd thought that the thing that had blown up had actually been a Displacer weapon and they'd been scattered all over creation there by a malfunctioning teleport, and here the G-man now stands!

And if something isn't done quickly he might be a smoldering heap of ash if Mina looses her cool here with him! He and the others may have been displaced, somehow and while the teleport hadn't harmed them, anyway (nothing visible yet . . . .will watch for signs of "The Fly" syndrome). I DO VERY, VERY believe I had better do something about it quickly because if not, the results could get VERY messy here quickly.

Hoboy, this can't be good. There is real murder gleaming in Mina's eyes right now!

"Mina, please calm down!" I call up to the dragoness as I land and run between her and the G-man, who seems to look like he'd rather be elsewhere (smart man but a bit too late for running . . . Mina would be on him in seconds).

Well, at least the situation is helped a LOT by the fact that Rei steps in and attempts to calm Mina and Alan down. She always did have a way with words and the hug helped a bit as well calming her parents.

But what takes me a bit by surprise is how the younger Rei (Rei III) is acting right now.

Got to say that the as of yet unnamed Japanese soldier is taken aback by the sight of Rei actually hugging a dragon, but what really got my attention is Rei's younger sister here: the native to this world. Creator d*mn me, but she's acting in a now VERY different manner than how she'd behaved when we'd first met, face to face. There is clear and unveiled love in the young girl's face here instead of the usual stoic mask she had worn.

Now, it may have something to do with the fact that there have been a few . . . physical changes upon the girl (I DO know that those red colored wings poking out of tears in the back of her school uniform hadn't been there before now . . . and her hair had been BLUE, not red). The fact that her eyes are now a shockingly deep green coloration that Mina obtained after her "close encounter" with Dracula. With Mina, the encounter had only deepen the green of her eyes. Whoever or whatever it appears to have happened here must have been a REAL big encounter, if I do not miss my guess!

Change has come upon Rei II a LOT faster than what I would have expected. Much more so than a her having regained knowledge and experience would account for, really. Oh, that had done wonders for her personality (positive stuff) even at the very beginning, but THIS, here and now....

Hm, maybewhat I'm looking at here has to do with whatever transformation she'd experienced that gave her wings?

Yeah, so much for nothing permanent having happened with that flash from the exploding weapon there.

And when and how in the #@$%#% did she become a Champion?! I’m just NOW noticing this?!

AND why do I have a feeling how that the idea that Mina and Alan put forward of accepting Rei III as a daughter but leaving her here in THIS reality (like a the elder D'Honaires did with some Fred analogs) has . . . mutated into something a bit more. I do believe that we may have a new member to add to our adventuring party.

The Doctor looks thrilled, let me tell you. . . .

. . .

Damnit, there are times that I really do MISS being an AI. I mean while as an elf I have is a great deal more than what normal humans enjoy (better than what a lot of enhanced humans enjoy, really), but it doesn't compare to what I enjoyed before.

Hell, I can do a lot as an elf, but as an Inuit AI I could have been analyzing and taken this all in. Come to some kind of plan of action by NOW instead of just hashing it out, one problem and situation at a time.

Thank the Creator that Inquirer can still do that. But still I wish I could sometimes provide to the team as I could, before.

Sigh, well Elrondir, quit whining over what you can't do and concentrate on what you CAN do. Inquirer is doing what she can do and while two analyses could have been nice, her's isn't anything to sneeze at.

Besides, in this game of analysis we have a HELL of an ally in the Doctor! Goodness knows who we could have just rolled the Enemy/Alliance war up in years vice decades if we'd had somebody like HIM of his caliber on our side.

Or at least avoided some of the more costly errors we'd made during that damn war....

Well, he's a very good leader of our group so I'll take what I have here and now.

  1. "You and I need to talk," I snap at the G-man, getting his attention away from the sight of two young woman speaking in a warm, loving way to a creature I’m sure he’d only seen and heard of in human mythology.
