“Ah, Mr. Akari . . . so nice of you to join us,” the man says softly in a slow, raspy manner, not bothering to look up. “Please, sit!” The rough, black clad hands that reach out as if from the shadows themselves take him roughly and force him to comply with the "request". "How did you get in here?" Gendo Akari nearly shouts. "Do you know who I am and what I can have done to you for . . . ?" A slightly annoyed glance directed his way is the only warning he has before he finds himself unable to move. Mouth still open in mid-threat, his captor turns from typing on the computer terminal. "DID I not call you by name?" the captor (call him the G-man for now on) rejoins. "Yes, Mr. Akari, I do know who you are . . . and I cannot say that I am enchanted." "The files in the system are not complete enough for our needs," he then says, turning towards one of his henchmen who'd levered Gendo into the chair. "That of course means we must still . . . go with our secondary means of data acquisition. So much the better to help our Employer decide on a course of action. . . after this rather unexpected deviation from the . . . scenario envisioned contingent upon that one . . . test back home." Careful wording aside so as to not tip his hand towards his captive (to be used against him later if Gendo should somehow slip his grasp), he is speaking of the scientific experiment that had gone wrong, causing all sorts of havoc back at one place called Black Mesa. Black Mesa, that one ultra-secret facility located in the G-man's version of New Mexico (USA) was supposed to have conducted some kind of dimensional experiment which was to go VERY wrong. The G-man's scenario predicted that the resulting rifts in space/time would open passages to that one borderworld and allow alien invaders in and . . . Well, all that information was provided in that one prior link to Half- life. What happened instead is that the rifts appeared, alright. Just it was they all lead (so far as can be determined thus far) to this peculiar alter-Earth, this VERY alarming alter-Earth. The G-man still was trying to come to grips with the idea that ANYONE could willingly try to court what he could only see as the END of the human race, higher form or not. Honestly, he saw the rather quasi-spiritual notes about Instrumentality brining about the next stage of evolution (and the merging of mankind with god) to be . . . so much delusional thinking on the part of the conspirators. He himself could envision so many better uses for these assets presented to him than what he'd read . . . G-man here, if you have not guess, had been tasked to ensure the continued existence of mankind on HIS Earth . . . by whatever means necessary. To what ultimate ends and for what reasons are not to be revealed at this time, but options had been weighed and draconian reasoning applied. The road ahead had looked bleak but doable. The insertion of this alter-Earth into the scenario was . . . unexpected. But it, with such things like the technology of the Evas and such . . . might just tip the balance. . . . If someone should just grasp it and squeeze it for all the possibilities it presented. If it should be taken and utilized by whatever means found to be necessary . . . no matter how distasteful it may prove to be. The end justified the means in the eyes of the G-man and his employer and those employed by them. As the still Gendo's conscious fades to black and his now unconsious form is dragged away to an awaiting glowing green portal back to the G- man's . . . guest facilities, the man in question turns and looks at one man, his head henchman (as it were). "Round up this listing of people if you can," G-man orders, pushing a notepad with a bunch of names upon it. "Cubbage, one thing. This one . . .is rather special." The name pointed to is one Rei Ayanami. Frankly, that particular young woman intrigued him to no ends. See, as some might know the G-man from Half-life is NOT exactly a font of compassion and mercy. However, he is intrigued by the young girl. See, this girl keeps surviving the damnedest things despite all odds, adapting apparently to accomplish this. The line he’d read on her files about her being alive after hand carrying a sub-nuclear bomb in her barely still badly damaged combat robot and detonating it in a (failed) attempt to stop an invading Angel got his attention. What toped it off for the G-man was Rei somehow, despite it seeming to be impossible, being found alive and only slightly injured in the mangled remains of her Eva’s entry plug after having detonating her robot to destroy yet another Angel when all other options had failed! How a young girl should be alive, yet alone so unscathed, after being at THE ground zero of what could only be considered a tac nuke equivalent explosion which had wiped out a LARGE section of this Tokyo 3 place, was . . . fascinating. He himself, in the game, admitted with having a a fascination with those who adapt and survive against all odds ... they rather remind him of himself, and if for no other reason he shall strongly argued to his employers for her employment within his organization. Frankly, given her apparent dedication to her job (protecting humanity from these Angels) the G-man is sure that she can be swayed to see the threat that HIS enemies will pose not only for his Earth, but now HER Earth as well. It’s still only a matter of time before Xen and the monsters find and make their way here, he figures. Oh, it may take some . . .persuasion techniques but in the end, after being shown the facts the G-man is sure that she’ll accept. If not . . . well no regrets. Of course she’ll have to be eliminated so as to not tell tales. Of course, he’s not aware of certain things (like the Champions or the fact about Rei being cloned and all that). . . . Speaking of which, lets head on down to the clone tanks, the very reason why Rei’s still about, eh? Some . . . interesting things are in play down there . . . “Oh . . .god what a headache,” a bearded man dressed in an odd orange environmental suit groans upon awakening (eyes still shut), only to pause when he senses several things. The mindless giggling of a LOT of young girls that for some reason sends shivers up his spine. The smell of blood in the air. The fact that the air itself seems . . .thicker than what it should be, almost like it is actually a liquid.
