Outside, back at the Geofront (aka NERV HQ) There is a air of controlled panic about which is only increasing, reaching a boiling point. It was a green flash of light and . . .suddenly the world turn upside down and almost ALL of the personnel of NERV HQ (and quiet a few facilities (civilian and otherwise) found themselves suddenly ELSEWHERE. Some were MORE displaced than others. Some were too far away to even think about being able to call in and report (as in OFF reality .. . more on that here soon). In the meantime, it had become a mad dash and run to get BACK to NERV HQ. That place was TOO important to leave unguarded. At first, the displaced thought it was the malicious work of some Angel and they would all be arriving just barely in time to witness Third Impact (i.e. the end of the world). Thankfully, that had not happened. However, a LOT wanted to know just what the HELL had happened . . .and if it was going to happen again. What could (if anything) be done to prevent something like that again. While some were running and trying to figure that stuff out, other roving teams of security (mundane and the exotic and lethal kind that is Section 2 . . . the spook shack) roam the facility, looking for intruders and/or sabotage. Some had found signs of intrusion and were pursuing (while the pursued were wondering how the Hell they'd ended up here . . . where ever HERE is). Others found some alarming finds. Finds that appear to be the worst kind of sabotage imaginable. "What do you mean Lilith is no longer there?!" shouts Commander Gendo Akari. "Just where in the Hell would she go? The thing just didn't get up and walk away!" Even IF those green flashes of light had somehow displaced almost everyone from their posts (some suddenly finding themselves at the outskirts of town, for goodness' sake) and key positions left unguarded, something THAT massive shouldn't have gone missing. Literal truth, that one. Besides the fact that that particular Angel down in Central Dogma (holding room deep within NERV HQ's bowels) had not moved for well over a decade, it was massively restrained upon a red cross. . . . YES, more Judeo-Christian symbology! This particular anime is chuck FULL of that stuff! Rather creative on how they mix one religion that is SO credited for being rather anti against them, but this fusion of both Evolution and Freudian psychotherapy has a big following even to this day, being so well done. Still, one must wonder how rapidly both Darwin and Sigmond Freud must be rolling over in their graves. Perhaps at something like 45k rpm? No, back to the story. The good Dr. Akagi is STILL trying to not gag at the stench of vaporized flesh and LCL (which smells of blood even NOW). What is left is littered with black and brown . . .goo that defies descriptoin. Very contaminated, what is left. Worrisome, considering this mysterious liquid is what helps make piloting an Eva possible. LCL is an oxygenated, breathable liquid which also helped conduct nerve impulse from pilot to vehicle. That and it acted as something of a shock absorber, lessening blows sustained by the Eva to something survivable vice pulping the young pilot with concussive damage. And now with both it's source--blood like fluid which was forever leaking from the now vanished Lilith--gone and the remaining supply contaminated beyond use, this was yet ANOTHER dire nail in what looked to be mankind's coffin. Yes, there is the very REAL danger of Lilith's continued existence being instrumental for Third Impact. Sure, why have that hanging over one's head? Why not just destroy it and be done? Well, the Angels might not take too kindly to that and take out their frustrations on the world of humanity. Being that the bound Angel Lilith was able to give off materials that had been used to make weapons (the Evas) able to defend against and defeat Angels, that meant a LOT. It was a catch 22 situation. Damned if they kept her, risking an Angel being able to power or otherwise bypass security (which is supposed to be incredibly tight here). Damned if they didn't (for reasons already stated). And now it looks like things are pretty much going to go to Hell here. Another thing that is going wrong is a lot of systems are still scrambled and broken by whatever had teleported the NERV crew out and about. People were scrambling to put things to right, but still . . . Hell, nobody but a small skeleton crew had been able to be spared to look after the Evas. That is how widespread the chaos has become. If an Angel attacked now, it would be UTTERLY disastrous! This is Gendo Akiri's line of thinking until something disrails it. Showing things are even WORSE than what he'd thought. "Sir, you don't understand! Whatever happened caused massive damage to the surrounding area and the flooring beneath," the doctor gags. "Not only did it vaporize the majority of the LCL down here, it's burned a hole through the armor plated floor beneath! Trace remains of ash suggests . . . .that the Angel was the source of the fire." Gendo, for a few second just stares at his phone in open shock, before snarling out: "For all our sakes you better HOPE not, Doctor. Double and triple check to confirm and get back to me! I need to check . . . on that other part needed for my scenerio, now." Slamming down his phone before Ritsuko can answer, he turns and sees the pale and shaken face of his long time associate and former teach. "If SEELE hears of this we are all dead," the deputy commander whispers hoarsely. "If it is as bad as it looks then humankind is dead," Akari mutters, worried like you couldn't believe. He passes by his mentor, to use his real office. The one he stands in now is only for show (and intimidation of his subordinates). He has a LOT of work ahead of him, he fears, and it required his assets down THERE. “See to ongoing operations and keep my apprised.” “And then there is to say nothing about me ever seeing Yui again.” Gendo mutters softly to himself, a feeling of dread in the pit of his stomach. He stops dead in his tracks as he find somebody already sitting at his desk, reading over some files from his secured computer terminal! Who would DARE such a thing and how did he manage to bypass all his security measures and alarms? There was, however, something decidedly OFF about this man at his desk. He appears to be a middle-aged male Caucasian human with a tall and remarkably thin physique, very pale and somewhat emaciated skin, extremely dark brown hair shaped in a military-style crew cut, and vivid blue-green eyes. For the life of him, Gendo Akari swears that he’s seen this guy before.
