B'Elanna "Okay, the reason why we cannot just beam out of here is due to lingering traces of . . . lingering energy erruptions from those Angels these Evas defeated?" I ask as we trek along through the underbrush. "Why is this happening . . . again?!" "I . . .had to use substandard parts in order to work around the damaged areas of the Key," the Doctor mutters, softly. "The end result is that the Key worked, but it is not as . . .robust as it was before." So basically whatever kind of mystical radiation (or whatever you want to call that "fallout") from prior Angel battles is playing hob with our way back home. Thus why we are hoofing it out of the area of "contamination" to . . . . . . ? "Uh, do you see what I'm seeing?" I ask softly, pointing up at a figure (a strangely familiar figure to some). NO, it's not Superman (or Supergirl), but it is a rather young woman up there . . .who's under a magically induced delusion (a side effect of some of the magicks that got thrown about to KILL that last Angel . . .how I do not rightly know) that SHE is Unit One. . . . See, according to my husband (our resident expert on this matter by default) this Rei is . . . She owes her existence in one way or another from a woman who'd been called Yui Ikari (Shingi Ikari's mother, deceased). By some sources (nobody was sure even to this day the "truth" of the matter), Rei's genetic makeup is made in PART of Yui (and part humanoid Angel). Indeed, some say that part of her personality (what there was of it . . . she was kind of withdrawn and cold in the animes, Elrondir tells me) had a bit of Yui in it (by accident through psionic imprints? Soul residue? Huh?). And since according to Elrondir Yui's soul actually resided in Shingi's Eva unit, Unit ONE. WTF? . . . Well, whatever exactly went haywire when Sigin peaked, it appears that Rei got more than what that attacking/merging Angel intended. What exactly it all means remains to be determined (if we get a chance, that is). IN any case . . .she's gotten some unexpected powers (shaped in part by that haywire incident). And by the look of it . . . she's on the hunt for more Angels to kill . . . And given a few OTHER things about Angels from this Neo Genesis Evangelion crap, it means that after THAT (killing off it's competition), that girl might just try to do something . . . unfortunate. Third Impact unfortunate!! Oh, for those who do not know what I mean, I mean that that flying girl just might be able to perform a ceremony (once she somehow works or fights her way into NERV HQ) that would . . . wipe all of humanity from the face of the Earth! Uh, well actually all of humanity, each human mind, would be merged (spiritually . . . their bodies would be dissolved into a red goo/residue) into a group conscious (and according to Elrondir the idea was that it would also merge with the mind of the Christian conception of God). . . .but that's by the by. None of us are human here but all and all I do NOT want to be around when and if that happens (just in case) AND in all good conscious . . .and we did NOT (Elrondir especially) envision something like THIS happening (and the possible ramnifications of our actions). . . . HELL, do you mind if we don't want to get vaporized in an explosion?! And in our defense. . . . . . Oh, hell with it. We made a bit of a bloody mistake here and we BETTER fix it. One way or another, we'd better . . . fix it. . .
