The Never Ending Quest - Episode 6120

Fred and Astra nodded to each other. They would go in. Otherwise they would always regret not having found out what the place was like. "Yes, we would like to come in," said Fred. "Very good, Sir," said the man. "There's just one thing. I'm afraid we have certain standards to maintain, and so we require that men should wear neckties." "What!" exclaimed Fred in astonishment. "But you're letting her in stark naked," and he pointed at Astra, who was hiding her face behind her hand in the hope that Fred wouldn't notice that she couldn't help giggling. "Yes, Sir, but we leave our female customers' attire to their own discretion. However, we keep a stock of ties for lending to those of our customers who find our dress code a problem."

So Fred rather grumpily accepted a tie, and man, woman and dog entered the Neutral Ground. Fortunately Fred had a few gold coins in his pack with which he could pay for drinks. The bar area was busy. There were warriors from many cultures and periods of Earth's history, mythical creatures of many sorts, vampires and zombies, even creatures not from Earth at all. Fred, Astra and Velus couldn't help staring.

Then Fred felt someone tap him on the back, and a voice said: "Can I buy the two of you a drink - and perhaps arrange a bowl of water for the dog?" Turning, Fred found himself looking at:

  1. The dragon himself. He tried not to flinch.
  2. The dargon (far more frightening than a mere dragon).
  3. A man who introduced himself as Belboz the necromancer.
  4. An attractive young woman, who appeared to be only about eighteen, whom he did not recognise.
