At first light, they made a meal from their supplies. After packing up
their tents, they set off once more. The next few days the weather was
unsettled; though they were saved any downpours this time. A few more stops, and they were getting close to the border. One day, around noon when they had stopped for something to eat, a dark shadow briefly blocked out the sun. Staring at the sky, they saw the huge bulk of a white dragon. It was Steadfast. He must have used all of his energy reserves to fly to Tirania and back. One strange manoeuvre - at least it was to Astra - and he flew off into the distance. "What did he do just then, Henri?" she asked. "That was a barrel roll, or as the dragons like to call them, a victory roll. It's their way of saying 'mission accomplished'."
Once they reached the fort, they were relieved to find that the only casualties on the Tiranian side were the three replacement soldiers that tried to fight back against the guerillas. They were greeted close to the fort by one of the men who had been assigned to protect Astra. Astra meanwhile was looking the trees surrounding the edge of the clearing. She seemed to be surprised that not even a leaf was scorched, and commented as such. "Aye, your ladyship," the soldier answered. "'E 'ad th' fire o' vengence in 'is eyes, but 'e managed to restrain 'imself. Somehow 'e rounded th' guerrillas int' clearing t' th' south of 'ere an' then gave 'em a proper roasting, like." "All of them?" She gave a shudder as she imagined what the result would be like. The soldier nodded. "Yes, your ladyship. 'E even went as far as destroying th' guerilla's camp."
