When Henri and Astra entered the captain's office, he looked tired but
pleased to see them. "Welcome back," he said. "You did a fine job. That
dragon was quite something to behold. We needn't worry about the guerillas
for quite a while now, as it will take them a long time to rebuild their
strength. In fact, knowing that they could face another dragon attack at
any time, they and their backers may give up. With no immediate threat, I
can now spare the men to escort you to the capital, my lady. In any case,
I need to send them word of what has happened here, so I can kill two
birds with one stone, as our old saying has it."
"If there is no longer a threat from the guerillas, then do I need an escort?" Astra asked. "It would hardly be proper for a lady of breeding like yourself to travel alone. Besides, even though there should be no guerillas left, there are still wild creatures and robbers to worry about...
