"Perhaps a meal for you has materialised in Fred's room," Astra suggested
to Velus, when he complained to her that there was no food for
him. "The 'staff', if that's the right word for a disembodied
magical entity, may not have realised that you've swapped rooms, thinking
that you're merely visiting me."
Velus replied, using their system of coded barks, that the entity couldn't be expected to understand his barks, so perhaps Astra could request a meal for him. Telling Astra this took some time. The system was fine for simple things, but this was a rather complex message for it to handle. When Velus had finished, Astra said: "Er, hello magical entity. My friend Velus, that's this dog, is staying with me overnight now, rather than with my companion. Please could you provide a suitable meal for him as well?"
