All of the travellers were glad to be away from the gloomy Arigorn Forest.
They were soon surrounded by fields of grain. Ambaric told Fred and Astra
the first village was called Ludswick. It was essentially a farming
community and served the city of Sonnerheim. "I have a good standing with
them,
as my order has helped them on a number of occasions." Several miles later they saw some outbuildings in the distance. Soon, the village proper came into view. A dark shape rapidly came towards them and resolved itself into the shape of a rough-haired collie. They came to a halt, Ambaric dismounting and almost getting bowled over by the collie who tried to lick him to death. Velus had since fallen asleep in Astra's lap, and slightly stirred at the commotion but didn't wake up. The dog's owner came up not far behind. He greeted Ambaric and the two Cedrics warmly. "Back from your travels, I see, Ambaric." He nodded at Fred and grinned. "Got your own bodyguard, eh? Allarian, to boot!" His gaze passed over Astra, but he didn't say anything. Fred, feeling slighted, introduced himself and Astra (remembering her cover) in a slightly stilted fashion. The man's grin grew wider. "The name's Shelyon. Don't mind me, I just don't have much time for king's men. I meant no offence." Turning his attention back to Ambaric: "I was expecting you and the two Cedrics, but I'm sure my wife can find extra rooms for your two new friends. Trade's rather slow at the moment." They followed Shelyon and his dog to the inn in question, which was simply called The Ludswick Arms Taking the horses to a stables situated around at the back of the inn, they went around to the front, where the two Cedrics went straight to their rooms which apparently were theirs on a permanent basis, at least according to Freida, Shelyon's wife, who took the two extra visitors in her stride.
