Fred cursed. It seemed that someone might have noted their arrival and did
not want any of them to leave. And that someone, presumably Princess
Exotica, had considerable magic at their disposal. Come to think of it, he
remembered Velus saying as much. [312]
He supposed that he had two choices now. He could try to find his way out through the revised maze - always assuming that there still was a way out, which he rather suspected that there might not be. Or he could turn round and attempt to rejoin Astra and Velus. Just how did Astra expect to deal with Exotica anyway, especially now that she no longer had a sword? (Or boots. She had returned those when she returned his sword.) Surely she and Velus would be no match for an enchantress?
