How does a curse work?

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 56794

"Wait a second," Velus said as Astra began removing her armor. "All the dragon's spells should have vanished now that he is dead remember? Hence your's truly walking upright again." Velus pointed at himself.
Astra wasn't sure though. "A curse is stronger than most spells. While a spell may disappear when it's caster dies a curse will remain until broken."
Fred nodded. "I believe Astra is right, if I remember correctly what my old mentor taught me. Each curse can be broken if you know how, but otherwise it lasts for ever."
"But in that case we are probably already affected by the curse," Cedric said. "I doubt it will be broken simply by taking of the armor again."
Astra shrugged. "It is always wise to be careful. This doesn't do much good neither for protection nor warmth nor modesty in any case." She threw down her helm and silver ringmail by the fire. Velus however wasn't convinced of the danger and decided to keep his on. Cedric believed it made no difference in either way and kept his on too.
After a while they pulled straws for whom should take the first watch and then went to sleep. They did not know that they would learn the effects of the curse that very night, their first night since leaving the caves.

  1. Only those who still wore the armour were effected
  2. All who had worn the armour were effected
  3. All who had worn the armour or worn one of the swords[14900] on his hip were effected
  4. Actually, that was a lie. Velus seems to have been right.
