Another Writer Shows Up

But it wasn't half as unnerving as what he saw upstairs. The room upstair was larger than the room downstairs. It was a vast room full of Gothic arches, with each wall covered with bookshelves. It seemed to stretch off into infinity. A dim light filtered through nearby stained- glass windows. Some of them showed obscure saints, others showed scenes from mythology or the works of Chaucer, and others seemed to show scenes from comic books or Doctor Who.

Mark saw someone approaching him, a deceptively normal-looking young man with brown hair and hazel eyes. "Hi," said Mark. "I'm looking for, um, the part of this library that has my own stories. Do you know where it is?"

"Only you can find it," said the young man. "Anyway, hi. My name is Knight Random, and this is my part of the library. Don't worry, it's pretty big and convoluted, but you'll have no trouble getting out of here and finding your own room. You know in your heart where it is."

"Okay..." said Mark. He didn't want to go looking for his room yet, and was still dizzy, so he was a bit curious. "So what kind of stuff have you got?"

"Well, I was just filing a few of my more obscure bits of interactive story writing. I've done a lot of it and it's... very erratic, to say the least. Anyway, there used to be this story called Gav and Peloso's which had some interesting stuff in it and now went defunct, where I wrote a lot of episodes. I didn't really have a thread as such, but I had a few episodes which were interesting starting points which I never got a chance to follow. There was also an episode in a kind of lame Star Wars themed Addventure which I mentioned to JH on my Livejournal, so I thought it would be only fair if I reposted it here. Finally, there was a story thread in another addventure called Jack's Sofa which I actually just wrote today but which got taken in... a different direction from what I intended, and it involved NEQ elements anyway, so I'm reposting it here. There'll might be other things here in a few months or years too, for all I know."

"What do you mean? I'm not going to be here for years."

"But this episode will. We writers experience time a bit differently."

1. Mark reads some of the Gav and Peloso stuff.
2. Mark reads the Star Wars episode.
3. Mark reads "NEQ: Year One."
4. Mark moves on to seek his own part of the library.
