Well enough, here come the Dark Elves back from their private chat. Do wonder what they shall have to add to tonight's parade of revelations! Allan "The cow was named Freda," I hear Chiana muttering to Sigin, still shaking her head slightly at Freda's insistence of going by that particular name. (re: 15266) Do believe that I can understand just why, but that's not for right now. Right now, the elves are returning and chattering away in an elven shorthand that the "universal translators" (wonderous devices, those) cannot even begin to decipher. They stop short and we learn that (not totally unexpectedly) that our new elves have a history almost exactly like "our" Fertal and Artizza up to the point we rescued them. The newcomers (not used to the idea of "analogs" and "dopplegangers) are more surprised than "our" Dark Elves are, but still all in all they take it well. Freda's news surpises them a bit, but . . . What is surprising is that a Rule had been here and left without even saying "hello" to the Doctor and us, but then again that Celestrial had business more for Fertal 5 and Artizza 5 than us. Still, old chap, I should say I almost feel snubbed. When they get to the part about them needing to come along, that generates a few mutters about picking up strays (mentally) but what can one do? We see that they ARE Champions (now) and that means that since their forms are now frozen as elves forevermore I shall wager that a return to their old kingdoms is not in the offing (or would be accepted from their human subjects even if it were possible). Sad, but I fear that is the way of human beings of this world. Pity. As for them wanting to joing the Doctor as yet another set of Companions? "Good grief," the Doctor mutters, blinking. "My brother made some comment about carting friends all over the universe but I never thought that I may be . . ." He gathers himself and . . . Well, I do believe that of all of us Artizza and Fertal are happiest of all. A special connection and all that between elves is rather deep, you know. But I do believe that I shall like our newest friends. At least they are attempting to connect with us dragons. "'Tis strange but given this 'other world' business I should see it possible," Fertal 5 (do hope that we can come up with some kind of nickname for him, so rather demeaning in a fashion to just tack a number onto a name) begins. "Mind you, in retrospect there is so much still to learn of the ways of my old world but from what I have experienced the dragons I was tasked to slay were evil. None even gave hint to any 'good' dragons . . . . But, how is it like the relationship between human and dragon from your old world?" "Well old chap," I begin, trying to come up on how to frame "modern" Victorian times for this ernest elf. "You see by my time dragons and magic were for the most part . . . considered to be nothing but legend and myth by most learned and serious people." The look he give me could be summed up by the old saw: "Okay, now pull the other leg." It is an interesting discussion, let me tell you, back on Terra Prime were we stop off to get equipment for our newest friends. The Doctor and all had agreed that this was yet another false lead and we should be moving on (and thank God we can teleport back without having to return to were we'd rescued our new friends)! A quiet day in the woods, sun shining and birds singing. Suddenly, without even a flash a group appears on a path.
