After that, they quit talking about the issue, but Fred could tell by his
companion's faces that they had not forgotten it. Nobody talked for hours
before they had finally decided to set up camp by a river off the road.
Everyone went to bed immediately without saying a word. Fred awoke to the sound of horse legs silently sneaking up to him. Instinctively, Fred grabbed his weapon and lunged in the direction of the hoofs, but all he hit was thin air. "Fred, you fool, it's me." said a familiar voice. "Sorry Jorn" muttered Fred, sitting up, his eyes slowly adjusting to the darkness. "Thank God for my fast reflexes, or else I'd have lost a leg." Jorn sounding slightly amused. "Warrior Instincts" Fred answered to the unasked question. "It's all part of knight training." "Good thing to learn" said Jorn. "But I haven't woken you up to have a nice talk about our instincts and reflexes." His voice was now stern and serious. "I wanted to discuss with you about Astra.""What about her?" Asked Fred, standing up, sure what he was going to say. "I know she thinks I'm a traitor." Jorn gave an irritated sneer. "She's as damn prejudice as the rest of them. The way she accused me of that. Fred, know that our race in pledged to good and only good. I swear by my whole race that I have not, nor will I ever betray you.” Fred took a deep sigh and said “Look, Jorn. I trust everyone here. I don’t believe any of us are a traitor.” Jorn said nothing. He just walked away, over by a tree a few yards away, which Fred guessed was where he was sleeping for the night, and sat down. He only said one thing before drifting off to sleep; “I would watch Astra if I were you Fred.”Those Words echoed in Fred’s mind all night long.
