Fred got up and went to the window, looked out for a few seconds before
turning to Astra. "You're up earlier than I expected. Is everything all
right?" He studied her face for a few seconds before asking, "Has it
anything to do with your intruder last night?" Astra nodded and told him
her fears. He thought for a bit and then said, "I think you've made the
right decision." He walked over to where he had left his armour and pack.
He felt slightly embarrassed about having to ask for help in putting it
on. Astra tried to hide a smile at this and offered to help, limiting the
damage to his pride. Velus, excited that they were heading off soon, hindered things by weaving inbetween Astra's legs. Frustrated, she aimed a kick in his direction which fortunately didn't connect. Once Fred had got fully suited up, he picked up his pack and tapped Velus lightly on the nose with it. Velus looked hurt for a few minutes but was soon back to his boisterous self once they had left Fred's room. After almost making Fred fall down the stairs, Fred picked up the struggling mutt and gave him a harder tap on the nose which actually made him yelp. He started to whine, but upon seeing Fred's stern expression, quickly shut up and stopped his wriggling. Once they had reached the bottom, Fred gave Velus a warning to behave himself. He gently dropped him on the floor before getting out his money pouch. He left enough to cover the drinks, meals and rooms including a small tip as a matter of habit. With that, they left. Minestus had woke not long after they had, and noticed them leaving early. He soon connected it with the fact that he hadn't informed Astra what he had done to the young lad, but again it was something that could be used to his advantage in bolstering his facade. He waited until they had travelled a fair distance from the inn before telling them. Fred and Astra were obviously annoyed at this, but it wasn't something totally unexpected. In fact it was Velus who noisily made an objection to that piece of news followed by a series of growls and barks which were a string of invectives that would have made even Astra flush had they been translated. Minestus knew exactly what Velus was saying and though actually amused he felt he had to feel indignant and gave Velus a much reduced version of the torture illusion. Not that it was as serious as it may have sounded. In reality, it was similar to a bee or wasp sting. Still it shut him up.
