A Briefing for the Captain

"I think that the Princess should come with us," the 2IC replied. "She was with you when you found the scout, so may have something useful to add. Also the captain will want to reassure himself that she has returned safely." He gave Astra a friendly wink.

Henri snorted. "Hah. At least she knows how to look after herself, which is more than can be said of most of your troopers."

The three of them went to the captain's office, and the 2IC knocked on the door. When they entered, the captain said: "Ah good, you're back. Any problems, Charles?"

The 2IC shook his head. "It all went smoothly, sir, but the enemy scout died immediately after we arrived. Henri thinks that he had already managed to obtain all the useful information that the man had, however. He thought that you would want a report at once. I asked the Princess to join us, since she was with Henri when they found the man and she might have something useful to add."

"Very well. Sit down, all of you. So what did you learn, Henri?"

1. "That we are in big trouble. They have located this fort, and we can expect a major assault on it in the very near future."
