The Never Ending Quest - Episode 5025

Suddenly, a huge explosion sounds throughout the building, the ground
shakes, and Fred and Astra are thrown into the teleporter. There's a
bright, blinding flash of light, then Fred and Astra pass out.
Fred awakens slowly. He's in incredible pain, but at least he's still alive... so to speak. He opens his eyes and sits up weakly. He seems to be in the middle of what looks like a wide road, paved with stone, and lined on both sides with massive, gleaming, metallic monoliths. Men and women dressed in odd, exotic clothing walk by, and a few stop to look at him, while monstrous metallic beasts zoom by in the road. What is this? All of this -- everything that Fred sees -- is strange. If he weren't so goggy he would probably be hyperventilating. Suddenly he hears a voice next to him. "Wh-where are he?" He looks over to see Astra, still naked and wearing her chains, sitting next to him and looking around. "Is this heaven?" Fred stands and turns to a random person in the crowd. "Where are we?" "Uh, y-you're in Trenton, New Jersey," the person, a teenage boy, says. "S-say, are you filming an episode of Xena or something?" Fred stares at him for a moment, then turns and whispers to Astra, "We're obviously in a distant land. These people speak a stange language." He turns back to the crowd and shouts loudly, "WE COME IN PEACE! WE ARE VISITORS FROM A DISTANT LAND, AND WE HAVE COME TO ESCAPE A GREAT BATTLE! EVERYONE RETURN AS YOU WERE!" The teenager turns away. "Man, this is lame even for Xena." The rest of the crowd walks away with him, muttering. Fred kneels down next to Astra. "Be careful, Astra. We're in a strange land, and we don't know what their customs are. From the monoliths around here they're probably sun-worshippers, and from their clothing, their speech, and the way they stared at us, they're probably barbarians or fools." "I agree," Astra says. "We have to get out of here. But first..." she looks down at her clothing, "we have to get me something to wear." "Yes," Fred says, "but... we don't even know whether they've raised above a basic bartering system. What if no one here cares about money." "Yes," Astra says. "So... what should we do?"
