"I'm glad you're still suffering," Astra told Fred. She laughed softly.
Fred just stared at her for several seconds, the depth of her cold and
hateful soul now sickening him all the more. "As a matter of fact," Astra
added, "I find it hilarious." Fred was unable to restrain himself any
longer. Though he had always been taught never to strike a woman, Fred
walked to her and attempted to strike her nonetheless, fueled on by an
overwhelming anger. His hand passed through her, though, and his anger
gave way to helpless frustration. She just laughed at him. "What can you
do to me?" Astra taunted. "You're dead. I killed you myself, didn't I?
You couldn't do anything about it then, and you can't do anything about it
now. Haunt me all you want in death, Fred. I know that you live in fear
of me, and what you must go through every night at the midnight hour.
Isn't that so?" She laughed again, and guards came into the room,
regarding her with astonished expressions.
"He is there," Astra told them. "Fred! The one I murdered! He has come
here as a ghost intending to torment me! But it seems that it is truly I
who torments him!"
The guards exchanged glances. "She's gone mad," said one of the guards.
