Fred couldn't help a sneaking feeling of admiration for the way that Astra went to the chopping block. Though weak from malnutrition and with stiff limbs from having been chained up, she managed to walk with her head held high.

Beside the block, the executioner waited with his axe. A sizeable crowd had assembled to watch the show, with the Dragon at their head. "Any last words?" he asked Astra.

  1. She just shook her head.
  2. "Yes. Damn you to Hell! I bitterly regret everything that I did for you, and my betrayal of Lord Fred most of all."
  3. "Won't you spare me? You know that I've always served you faithfully. I don't understand why you're doing this."
