"Oh, a scientist," Xyllis laughed. "No wonder I've never heard of you - you've obviously spent not enough time with the arts of magic, and too much playing with useless children's pursuits."

Vincent was by now quite upset. "I - look, regardless of what you think of my research, you must believe me when I say that these two are who they claim to be!" "Then explain the fact that Princess Astra - the real Princess - is even now back in the castle, and this one shows no sign of ever having been anything that what she is now?"

"You are the one who is forcing them to act like..."

"No, this behavior is theirs alone. I'm merely suppressing the other, odd mindset forced upon them - perhaps by you?"

"Rubbish!" Vincent snorted.

1. "Can you prove your innocence?" Xyllis asked.

3. "I suppose not," Xyllis allowed. "But in any event, you may take these girls with you, if you wish."
4. "In fact," Vincent said, "I can prove what I say is true if you will bring them and come with me."
5. Before Vincent could say anything else, Xyllis cast a spell of her own.
6. Before Xyllis could reply, Queen Helia entered the chamber.
