As Astra runs into combat the creatures shriek and turn away. The princess realizes that they must be afraid of fire which is why she was not attacked while lying unconscious on the other side of the campfire. Fred turns and looks at Astra, He is clearly exhausted and is covered in wounds. Fred opens his mouth to say something but before he can manage a single word he falls flat on his face. Astra runs to help him but just as she is about to reach him her foot catches on a root jutting out of the ground and trips smashing her head against the plate armor on Freds back and instantly falls unconscious.
