Astra did not know just how long she had been unconscious, but if it was
now night then quite some time must have elapsed. What was the matter with
her? Surely with her strong constitution she should have fully recovered
from her ordeal by now? She felt rather better then before she had passed
out, but still rather weak. That might just be because it was a long time
since she had had much to eat, she thought.
But there was no time to think of her condition any further, for Fred was in trouble, in danger of being overwhelmed by weight of numbers. Astra had never seen anything like these strange green creatures before. Lacking a proper weapon, she scrambled to her feet and grabbed the cool end of a blazing branch from the campfire. Then she charged into the fray.
